In loving memory of Thomas Worrall Fleming, their son aged 45 years. Pte Duke of Wellingtons W.R. Regt wounded and missing Aug 12th 1915 at Suvla Bay Greater love have no man than this.
Here we have one of two memorials in this cemetery to men who fell at Gallipoli in 1915. Thomas Worrall Fleming was born in Halifax in 1870. His father was a prosperous card manufacturer living at Norfolk Place, King Cross Road. Before the War Thomas was a card and belting manufacturer at Eccles, Manchester. He joined the 8th Bn. Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment) on the outbreak of War in 1914.
He died12th August 1915, aged 45 years and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial,Turkey (including Gallipoli), Panel 118 to 120. (CWGC)
