On Sunday 21st February 2016, the Friends welcomed to the cemetery Councillor Lisa Lambert, Mayor of Calderdale and consort Ken Lambert. The Mayor was at the cemetery to unveil a new plaque, celebrating the achievement of last October, when Lister Lane Cemetery became the first in West Yorkshire to achieve Significant Cemetery in Europe status. This accolade was awarded by the Association of Significant Cemeteries in Europe and represents the comiittment of the Friends with the support of Calderdale MBC and other volunteers; to ensuring the cemetery is kept clear and is promoted as one of Calderdale's important heritage sites.
